Malia Sanchez’s journey with Makana Esthetics Wellness Academy on Oahu took two unexpected turns: she became the company’s sole principal and owner and discovered that the impending rail project would force the academy to relocate. The latter left her worried, as her team’s dedication to building the company bore a strong connection to its original location.

“Once I realized Makana’s energy and purpose could be taken anywhere, I knew I needed to take the next step and start the search in finding a new home,” Malia shares. “I believe every opportunity is a chance for growth and we’re not always ready for the challenge, but growth is necessary in life.” Construction will soon begin on the new academy facility in Na Lama Kukui (formerly Gentry Pacific Design Center), complete with a new and improved student-operated spa. Malia says she and her staff are excited about a fresh start for Makana Esthetics. “We’re choosing to make this experience a great one,” she affirms.
